NORAD Lightning

Photographing lightning has become a great passion. I look forward to Spring and Summer each year and constantly watch the weather channel just for a slight chance of thunderstorms. I've traveled to Tucson during their monsoon and had the time of my life. The images above are the cream of the crop for the 2006 lightning season. I will be updating this page every year.

To capture these images, I mainly used my Hasselblad and Rollieflex. I use a slow speed film in order to keep the lens open as long as possible and to keep the grain small in order to produce large prints. I print the black and white images myself on fiber based paper and the color images are printed by a professional lab. Each image is numbered, titled and signed on the back, and are in editions of only twenty-five.
